history

How It Started

It all started as a thought, an idea which grew into a dream, a talk over coffee sessions, with like minded parents with children on the spectrum. To establish a camp for the acquisition of practical skills to help our children be independent and live a full and robust life within an inclusive community. Why not!! A place of respite for parents to relax and laugh, a place to share our anxieties and gain support. A place to learn new coping skills, a place without judgment but love and support. A dream that’s now a reality and on track.

Our mission

To help children and young adults on the autism spectrum develop and fine tune their day to day life skills.

Our vision

To build and strengthen the individual’s confidence and ability to manage anxiety, develop healthy relationships, acquire effective and lasting social skills whilst having fun, in a safe, friendly and well structured environment.

Our Commitment

To provide all the care necessary, to forge ahead with all the passion and energy necessary to give succour to all autistic persons and their parents/guardians in the context of a friendly and functional environment where they can thrive individually.

What we Do

Lighthouse Camp Programmes

The camp program’s are in two sessions:
Holiday camp sessions and Homeschooling sessions.

The holiday camp sessions run separate programs for children and teenagers during the holidays.

LightHouse offers campers the chance to learn, explore and have fun with other children and toung adults who are likely to have similar interests while meeting their social and emotional needs.

Self confidence and life skills will be built through cooking sessions when campers will learn to make their own breakfast and work in groups/teams to make lunch together.

At other times, campers will get to go shopping to develop healthy interactions with others.

They will also get to farm and nurture plants, have yoga and meditations, music, swimming classes and a lot more.

The experience will go beyond just the holiday but will become a unique part of their everyday lives, enhancing independency through social skills.

The camp environment is structured to accommodate free expression and exploration for campers. A full list of activities, camping dates and services will be made available on the Events Page.
